SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM)
Introduction
This two-day course focuses on participants who already have experience in the Scrum master role. The training will discuss the leading role of a Scrum Master in facilitating Agile team, program and enterprise success in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) implementation. The course covers how to promote collaboration in and between teams as a scrum master for the proper execution of the program and how to implement continuous improvement. Participants learn to apply their Scrum mindset in scalable engineering and DevOps practices. You’ll learn how to apply Kanban to facilitate the flow of value and how you can support interactions with architects, product management, and other critical stakeholders in a large enterprise context.
The course provides actionable tools for building high-performing teams and explores practical ways to address anti-patterns of agile and scrum in the enterprise.
Learning Objectives
To perform the role of a SAFe® Scrum Master, participants will learn to:
- Apply the SAFe principles when facilitating, supporting and coaching multiple teams
- Create high performing teams and encourage continuous learning
- Address anti-patterns of Agile and Scrum
- Engineering method, DevOps and Agile architecture support
- Apply Kanban and eXtreme Programming (XP) to optimize flow and improve the team’s work
- Lead PI planning sessions and realize end-to-end system value
- Support Continuous learning through participation in Communities of Practice and innovation cycles

- Exploring the Scrum Master role in the SAFe context
- Applying the SAFe Principles from a Scrum Master’s point of view
- Investigating Agile and Scrum anti-patterns
- Facilitating the execution of a Planning Interval
- Improving flow with Kanban and XP
- Improving program performance with Inspect and Adapt

Knowledge and experience
Anyone can participate in this training, regardless of his/her experience. However, for the SAFe® Advanced Scrum Manager (SASM) certification exam, it is recommended that you have the following certifications:
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
