Rapid Learning Cycles
Rapid Learning Cycles (RLC) is a framework for innovation and product development. The Rapid Learning Cycles framework is a synthesis of Agile software practices tailored for physical products that must be produced at volume. Rapid Learning Cycles is a complete framework that is proven to accelerate innovation, prevent launch delays and ensure that great ideas are well-executed.
Rapid Learning Cycles fits seamless in Synergio’s services portfolio, helping customers to transform to Lean-Agile product development. The Synergio consultants are also SAFe 5.0 certified SAFe Program Consultants (SPC) and experts in the area of Lean Systems Engineering. Synergio provides training, coaching and consultancy along the approach of “Leading – Collaborating – Coaching” Targetprocessenables Rapid Learning Cycles development teams to collaborate on-line about Key Decisions and Knowledge Gaps. In addition management has insight and overview of the progress made by the teams.
Kick-Off, Learning Cycles and Integration Events
In many development programs, decisions and choices are made early in the development cycle, because then the teams can “move on and make progress”. However these decisions and choices are often made on assumptions rather than actual knowledge. If it turns out that these assumptions are incorrect, product development will slow down as a result of rework.
Because product development is primarily knowledge-intensive at the beginning, Rapid Learning Cycles focuses on pulling learning forward and pushing decisions later enabling better substantiated decisions. This has proven to reduce rework.
Learning is done is short iterations called Learning Cycles, so the teams rapidly build the right knowledge. The learning is 1-on-1 connected to the decisions that need to be made in so-called Integration Events. An RLC program starts with a Kick-Off event in which all stakeholders participate. The most important high cost of change and high uncertainty decisions (Key Decisions) are identified and the knowledge (Knowledge Gaps) that is required to make these decisions with confidence.
